VISUAL COLLABORATION
Miro is a US-incorporated company on AWS under US jurisdiction — the CLOUD Act applies, and Miro does not offer a self-hosted option today. Polybase gives you EU cloud, your own VPC, or air-gapped self-host.
Polybase's interactive canvases live inside your workspace channels, connected to conversations, tasks, and documents. Brainstorm on a canvas, then convert sticky notes into Kanban tasks with one click. Discuss ideas in the channel thread. Hop on a video call to refine the design. Everything stays connected and actionable.
Miro is the leading infinite canvas tool for visual collaboration — mind maps, wireframes, retrospectives, and workshops. It's excellent for creative sessions, but it centers on the canvas rather than the workflow around it. After a Miro brainstorm, action items often get copied into Jira, discussions move to Slack, and the board can sit untouched until the next workshop.

Identify which Miro boards your team actively references. Most teams have a handful of living boards and many abandoned ones. Focus on migrating the active content and archiving the rest.
Set up Polybase channels for teams or projects that use visual collaboration. Each channel provides a canvas, chat, task management, and document space — replacing both Miro and parts of your Slack workflow.
Recreate your active brainstorming boards, planning canvases, and retrospective templates in Polybase. The interactive canvas supports sticky notes, shapes, and real-time collaboration for common team activities.
The game-changer: after brainstorming on a Polybase canvas, convert sticky notes directly into tracked Kanban tasks. Action items from workshops become real work items without manual re-entry or a separate tracker.
With canvases, tasks, and chat in one place, your team's workflow from ideation to execution lives in a single tool. Cancel your Miro subscription and consolidate your stack.
The additional workspace capabilities to consider when comparing Polybase with Miro.
In Miro, turning sticky notes into tracked work typically involves an export or integration step. Polybase lets you convert any canvas element into a tracked Kanban task with an assignee, priority, and due date — bridging the gap between ideation and execution.
Miro boards are typically accessed via shared links, outside your team chat. Polybase canvases live inside channels — start a discussion about a canvas element in the same thread where your team communicates daily.
Miro workshops typically require a separate Zoom call. In Polybase, the canvas lives in a channel — start a call there and keep drawing together, with the call in a floating window. Discuss, draw, and decide in one unified experience.
After a brainstorming session, capture meeting notes in Polybase's document editor — linked to the canvas and the channel discussion. No switching to Google Docs or Notion for follow-up documentation.
Miro centers on brainstorming, so the rest of the workflow typically spans Miro → Slack → Jira → Google Docs → Zoom. Polybase handles the entire chain: brainstorm → discuss → plan → build → review, all in one workspace.
