Changelog
What's new in Polybase
Shipped changes, newest first. Every entry corresponds to work that actually landed — no roadmap promises here.
- Desktop
Local Office files: open, edit and save a copy
- The updated desktop app opens DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files in separate offline windows through Open With, Cmd/Ctrl+O or drag and drop, without a workspace account or upload.
- Edit with the document, spreadsheet or presentation editor and save a separate local copy. Originals remain unchanged; unsupported Office formatting or features may change during conversion.
- Import the original or edited version into a selected Drive channel and folder after confirmation. Import needs the matching workspace update; later local edits do not sync automatically.
- Spotlight results open in the main window, the workspace sidebar header can drag the desktop window, and the macOS app icon has rounded corners.
- Tables & Studio
Task views feed dashboard metrics
- Tables connected to Tasks now offer grid, status-chart and due-date-calendar starters with useful task fields and your custom columns.
- Dashboard metrics can use the same connected task source and filters as embedded table views, including task fields for aggregations.
- The Studio overview groups apps and tables by channel.
- Docs
Word imports and Wiki editing keep their structure
- DOCX import preserves more Word table presentation, tab stops and page breaks.
- Pressing Enter at the start of a Wiki block preserves its type and content; blank lines keep a single line of height in reading mode.
- Wiki shows the slash hint only on the focused empty paragraph, uses one drag handle per row and renders embedded table icons as glyphs.
- Integrations
Workflow conditions use the record context they need
- Integration triggers can check event and record conditions, then run for every matching event, once per record or when a record first matches again after a nonmatching observation.
- HubSpot enrichment now fetches supported context required by enabled workflows even when those fields are absent from the visible notification. Named references can resolve configured related records.
- Context-dependent triggers do not run when required context is unavailable.
- Mobile
Assign from task cards and open shared Drive files
- Task card menus use the same assignee picker as task details, respecting the channel's assignment settings.
- Drive documents shared to chat open from their own document row; mobile Drive type labels now match the web labels.
- Mobile fixes guard avatar URLs, classify network error reports and limit iOS background refresh to the plugins it needs.
- Calls
Move calls between devices and prioritise audio
- Joining a call already active on another device offers Move the call here or Join from here too.
- Leaving a direct call or declining an invitation on one device preserves the session already accepted on another.
- Audio-priority bandwidth handling and a per-call audio-only mode reduce video demand; the desktop app offers an in-app screen and window picker with system audio where supported.
- Calendar & Email
Change meeting replies and save mail settings
- Change an earlier RSVP and decline a single occurrence of a recurring meeting without declining the whole series.
- Mail account settings can be saved without a connection test, so a temporarily unreachable server no longer blocks saving the configuration.
- Chat & Desktop
Clearer unread counts and desktop controls
- Deleted messages and hidden thread markers no longer inflate channel unread counts; the desktop tray badge follows unread notifications.
- The macOS tray popup gains a control-centre layout and a monochrome menu-bar icon, while thread translation popovers stay inside the viewport.
- Website
Long headlines stay clear on news cards
- Featured cards on News and Blog now keep their 16:10 cover inside its column, preventing longer English, Turkish and German headlines from being overlapped at desktop widths.
- Mobile
Mobile views get clearer and more visual
- Bottom-sheet menus now use the same Lucide icon language as the web app, while task cards mirror the web layout and field treatment.
- Drive renders real previews for Docs, spreadsheets, presentations and other supported documents; Docs cards stay in a readable two-column grid on phones.
- Calendar event details show participant avatars, Timeline uses a narrower first-name people column, and GIF-bank clips play on iOS through an MP4 rendition.
- Chat
More file types and a calmer composer
- Chat attachments now accept arbitrary file types instead of limiting uploads to recognised media and document formats.
- The composer keeps a useful writing height while its spacing, thread button and status controls sit more compactly and stay aligned without clipping or layout shake.
- Emptying the composer also clears its last text selection, so the next message starts cleanly.
- Self-hosting
Backups leave transient logs behind
- Manual and automatic server backups now omit the auxiliary log database and its SQLite sidecars. The logs rebuild on startup, while the primary workspace database remains included.
- Presentations
Slide editing gets precise
- New slides land after the active one; slides can be multi-selected, reordered together, viewed in a grid and skipped in the show; page size can be 16:9, 4:3, 16:10 or custom.
- Objects get exact position, size, rotation and layer controls plus edge resize handles; images crop, flip and set opacity; find and replace works across every text box.
- Transitions carry duration, direction and auto-advance; presenter view gains click-to-advance, keyboard shortcuts, a black or white screen and resizable notes with a pausable timer.
- PPTX export retains crop, flip, hidden slides and transitions; PDF export embeds every font face used in the deck and shows its progress.
- Mobile
Share from any app straight into a conversation
- Share to Polybase from any app and pick the conversation inside the share sheet: recent chats, search and a message on iOS, Direct Share targets on Android, so uploads start immediately.
- Office attachments in chat, tasks and meetings open in place through the embedded spreadsheet and PowerPoint viewers, with pinch-zoom and slide swiping.
- Workspace
Late fixes across spreadsheets, boards and chat
- Cell comments move to the spreadsheet document header and the cell menu while keeping the cell selection, and the rows and columns toolbar menu is restyled.
- Board table cells become rich text: bold, strikethrough, links and bullets inline, plus colour, highlight, typeface, size and alignment per cell from a toolbar that follows the caret.
- Chat attachment images recover from failed loads, loaded media survives message updates, and the timeline animates consistently while keeping its scroll anchor when older messages load.
- Spreadsheets & Tables
Spreadsheets grow into a complete editing workspace
- Spreadsheet editing now covers Excel-style formula references, fill handles, AutoSum, spill formulas, autofit, range sorting, advanced filters, borders, calculated charts and cell comments.
- Inline save and recovery status makes edits easier to trust, while worker-based processing keeps larger workbook operations responsive.
- XLSX round trips preserve dimensions, frozen panes, filters, charts, styles, comments and workbook identity more reliably.
- Tables add file columns, update rows by ID on re-import, expose task fields in bound views and virtualize large list, Kanban and gallery layouts.
- Docs & Presentations
Documents, wikis and presentations keep more of their structure
- Native Docs can become governed wikis, with consistent naming, channel module pins and steadier editor state across selections and fullscreen controls.
- DOCX and PDF exports preserve edited content, bullets and page layout more accurately.
- Presentations gain table editing, recoverable save state, Google Slides-style workflows and better PPTX paragraph and export fidelity.
- A shared image editor adds annotation and cropping wherever images are prepared.
- Tasks, Chat & Boards
Everyday collaboration stays focused and easier to control
- Tasks gain editable followers, completed dates, task fields in table views, idle-person drop targets in timelines and clearer card actions.
- Thread replies stay with their root channel, scroll to the latest message, avoid alerting non-followers and close with Escape; chat also gains live read receipts and message copying.
- Boards distinguish rectangle and rounded shapes and improve resize handles, layering, colour controls, vertical text alignment and paste behaviour.
- Calls & Calendar
Calls recover faster and calendars reach the home screen
- Call invitations now share one access and lifecycle model across calendars, channels and DMs, with missed-call markers plus busy, switch-call and do-not-disturb handling.
- Minimized screen-share PiP gains a back control and safer cancellation, restart and cleanup; connection failures recover more clearly across desktop and mobile.
- Calendar sync and meeting notification links are more reliable, selected sources collapse into a manageable summary and native Android and iOS calendar widgets bring upcoming events to the home screen.
- Mobile & Desktop
Mobile catches up while desktop gets steadier
- Mobile improves saved-session startup, realtime chat recovery, attachment rendering, Drive share links and thumbnails, task labels and status, screen-share zoom and native Docs and Wiki parity.
- Spreadsheet and presentation previews now open through dedicated mobile viewer pages, alongside Android 2.3.2 and iOS release fixes.
- Desktop adds Windows Store-compatible packaging and refines sidebar borders, title bars, history and fullscreen controls; quitting the Mac app now works normally during calls.
- Security & Integrations
Stronger access controls and richer connected workflows
- Authenticator-app MFA arrives with managed key storage, stronger role invariants, safer admin email updates and patched dependencies.
- AI settings clarify model hints and budgets, make translation providers configurable and hide AI or translation entry points until a provider is connected.
- HubSpot events render as rich cards linked to CRM records, while generic integration notifications, read state and explicit MCP channel sharing improve connected work.
- Studio validates tabbed designer drafts, protects publishing with channel permissions and carries template links into installed apps; workflow engine, API, builder, secrets and translations receive a broad reliability pass.
- Wiki
Writing in Wiki gets faster and better connected
- Paragraphs are edited locally while saves run in the background, with reliable cross-block undo, selection and formatting across paragraphs, and Backspace merges of adjacent paragraphs.
- Every block has insert, convert, move, duplicate and delete actions; rich paste keeps headings, lists, tables, code and nesting; nested toggles are fully editable.
- Type @ or [[ to link another Wiki page with backlinks, navigate long pages from a heading outline, and open embedded tasks and table views in their native surfaces.
- History restores show a read-only preview and text comparison first, the AI assistant reads the current Wiki body, and mobile gains authenticated resource pickers and retryable saves.
- Docs
Document menus, current-body sharing and richer exports
- The document editor gains organised menus with file actions, precise paragraph and font controls, persistent page layout and refined in-document search, in a single toolbar row.
- Imported Word files keep lists, paragraph indents, table widths, typography and images more faithfully; Tab at the end of a table continues it; formatting outside the selection is left untouched.
- After an edit, comparison, external share previews and downloads use the current document body rather than the original upload.
- ODT and RTF exports embed images, HTML ZIP and EPUB package them locally, and PDF export embeds actual font faces instead of aliasing them to a fallback.
- Studio
Pages and apps stay fresh for every viewer
- Channel pages and pinned apps refresh in realtime for every viewer, so screens, names and icons no longer wait for a reload or a channel switch.
- Meetings referenced in a page block open directly on the global calendar.
- Platform
An OAuth callback broker for managed deployments
- An optional OAuth callback broker lets managed multi-workspace deployments share one Google or Microsoft callback without moving tokens or tenant data; self-hosted installations keep their own callback unchanged.
- Personal MCP grants stay out of tenant exports, and Drive uploads skip operating-system bookkeeping files and no longer send a redundant file-URL update.
- Tasks
Tasks can now arrive on a schedule
- Create a task once at a future time, on selected dates or as a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly recurring series in the chosen timezone.
- Recurring schedules can follow the planned date or start their next interval when the previous task is completed; future occurrences appear as previews before creation.
- Unfinished occurrences can stay in their current status or move to a chosen status at the configured point.
- Edit or delete only one occurrence, that occurrence and everything after it, or the whole recurring series; schedules can also be paused without losing their setup.
- Drive & Apps
Drive becomes one focused workspace
- The redesigned Drive explorer keeps folders, previews and document work in one drill-down workspace, with breadcrumbs, grid and list layouts, and file thumbnails.
- Document and folder inspectors surface metadata, access, linked fields, connected workflows and table bindings; downloads and share-link management stay beside the selected item.
- Studio apps can define their own navigation order and icons, and App Maker carries those settings into generated and template-based apps.
- On mobile, Drive navigation is more compact, document menus stay in the viewport and task channels remain in Kanban view.
- Mail
Mail brings previews closer and handles accounts more reliably
- The sidebar rail previews recent unread mail without opening the inbox.
- Word, Excel and PowerPoint attachments can open as in-app PDF previews while the original file remains available for download.
- Mailbox sync and message actions now reconcile more reliably with external accounts, including account removal and recovery of empty mirrored bodies.
- External mail accounts are managed from global Mail settings, and provider OAuth returns directly to the inbox after connection.
- Docs & Data
Files keep more of their original shape
- Markdown uploads open as editable native Docs and export back to Markdown; private Word files gain in-app PDF previews and page-based thumbnails.
- PowerPoint previews retain richer themes, charts, tables, shapes, equations, media and motion, with an in-session cache for repeat views.
- Excel round trips preserve more formulas, rich text, links, styles, images, charts, validation and conditional formatting while structural edits keep ranges aligned.
- Document search adapts its preview layout to the available space, and the channel Drive sidebar can now be resized.
- Apps & Collaboration
A tighter App Maker and steadier collaboration
- Studio is organised around multi-screen apps with compact builder controls, resizable panels and content-aware preview labels; one App Maker entry now owns the conversational build flow.
- The AI Assistant gains a direct execution mode for requests that should run immediately, alongside the existing review-first mode.
- Chat replaces the external GIF picker with the built-in GIF bank, accepts JSON attachments and behaves more consistently during fast channel changes.
- LiveKit call ringing, explicit DM hangups and Polyspace video recovery are more reliable across web and mobile.
- Task reordering uses sparse positions and serialised bulk writes for steadier multi-card moves.
- AI Builders
Build pages and flows through conversation
- Page Maker turns a plain-language brief into a complete dashboard or record-page draft, grounded in the channel's real tables and saved views.
- Pages now support composable tab groups, so related views and forms can share one focused block without making the page longer.
- Flow Maker drafts a complete automation graph from a conversation, using the channel's real statuses, labels, tables and existing flows for context.
- A new Clean palette joins the desktop theme options.
- Calendars gain stable, customisable colours per channel; icon fields in Tables add an emoji picker.
- Templates & Docs
Whole channels from templates, smarter document work
- Channel templates create a channel with its modules, task workflow, labels, tables, forms, automations, sub-channels and pinned pages in one install.
- The built-in CRM template arrives with companies, contacts, deals, tickets, dashboards and four starter automations.
- Document compare now understands PDF, DOCX, HTML, plain-text uploads and native Docs, with format-aware pairing and extraction retry.
- The rich-text editor is now the single chat composer; Drive moves gain channel and folder search, while native Docs shed internal file extensions.
- Calls & Mobile
Self-hosted LiveKit calls and full Docs editing on mobile
- Calls now run on a self-hosted LiveKit media server, keeping media infrastructure inside the same deployment boundary as the workspace.
- Mobile apps gain full native Docs editing: rich blocks, structure changes, uploads and realtime reconciliation.
- Native Docs shared outside the workspace can be viewed in the browser and downloaded as Markdown.
- Calls
Meeting chat follows every call view
- Meeting chat is available in focus, sidebar and floating call views, with a docked panel that keeps the workspace visible.
- Calls open on the full focus stage by default, and camera effects now appear directly in the local self-view.
