Polybase Calls now run on a self-hosted LiveKit media server. Audio, video and screen sharing use WebRTC with media encrypted in transit through DTLS-SRTP, while the media service can run beside Polybase inside the same network and operational boundary.
For private-cloud and self-hosted teams, the change removes a third-party call service from the path. Air-gapped deployments can run LiveKit inside the offline network, and mobile connects to the same customer-controlled media layer as web and desktop.
The call experience has moved forward with the infrastructure. Meeting chat is available in focus, sidebar and floating views; calls open on the full focus stage by default; and background and appearance controls now show directly in the local self-view.
